Nest is known as one of the first brands to make waves in the connected home space. Nest offers smart fire detectors and thermostats that can not only interact with humans but also learn energy use patterns. Microsoft’s customised Windows Embedded OS does the collection and analysis of data, therefore, making IoT applicable in many businesses. Also, Microsoft’s products such as Azure cloud offers intelligent systems that offload heavy data analysis to Azure. Microsoft acquired Solair, an Italian startup in a bid to promote IT projects across sectors such as food and beverage, retail, manufacturing, and transport.
