Novel Corona Virus, commonly known as nCoV-2019 deadly infection reached all corners of the world. In China alone, the number of cases has already reached 1 lakh. According to global stats, 147,746 people are tested positive, 71,718 people are recovered and 5,539 people lost their lives.

WHO called coronavirus as “pandemic”. They announced a medical emergency of international concern. For China, the epidemic is critical in an effort to stop it. The authorities closed more than 10 cities with a total population of more than 25 million people.

What Is Corona Virus?

Coronavirus is a member of a family of viruses that can cause respiratory and intestinal diseases in humans and animals. The name coronavirus came because of its crown-like shape of the membrane. Its protein structure under the microscope resembles the solar corona.

Science has known these viruses since the 1960s. Most of them are completely safe. Except for the Coronavirus. They all cause the common cold symptom, which is easily tolerated and quickly treated by the simplest methods.

Some may cause serious complications. For example, the infamous SARS Coronaviruses and Acute Respiratory Syndromes (MERS and SARS), which raged in Asia, and in particular in China, in 2002-2003.

SARS-CoV:

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) started in China in November 2002, affecting more than 8,000 people in 37 countries and causing more than 700 deaths. SARS-Cov mortality has been estimated at approximately 10%. It is a serious form of pneumonia. It causes respiratory distress and fever higher than 38 degrees.

MERS-CoV:

The coronavirus causing Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) was first detected in 2012 in Saudi Arabia. As of October 2019, more than 2,400 cases of infection have been reported in different countries, with more than 800 deaths. The case fatality is therefore 35%. It causes serious respiratory problems, in addition to fever, cough and difficulty breathing, although at first, it may be asymptomatic. In the most severe cases, expectoration of blood, diarrhea, and vomiting also occur.

C:

In late December 2019, the first case of coronavirus was reported in the city of Wuhan (China). Since then the drip of COVID-19 has been continuous and its transmission from person to person has accelerated. Wuhan’s reported cases of pneumonia already far exceed those of the SARS epidemic, but the case fatality rate is lower. Moreover, this new Coronavirus is more dangerous than SARS and MERS because of its High mutagenicity.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the pandemic situation. People are infected in most countries and health professionals insist on the need to follow preventive measures and avoid social alarm. At the moment, the most affected country in Europe is Italy. In Spain, the health authorities and scientific societies consider that our country is prepared to contain the transmission.

What Are The Causes Of Corona Virus?

Coronavirus is rapidly transmitting between humans, but to date the origin of this virus is unknown. Chinese doctors suspecting this new coronavirus comes from mutated bats and snakes.

Like other viruses, this viral infection usually enters through the respiratory route which causes cold, cough and sneeze.

More often COVID-19, also known as Wuhan coronavirus, is an animal origin. In fact, the first cases have been related to a live animal market in the city of Wuhan, China.

As for MERS, camels are likely to be an important reservoir for this type of coronavirus and an animal source of infection in humans. However, the specific role of camels in virus transmission and the exact route (s) of transmission are unknown.

Originally, the MERS-CoV coronavirus is a zoonotic virus that is transmitted from animals to people. Also, the SARS coronavirus is believed to have originated from bats, subsequently leaping to some other small mammal species, such as the civet, and ultimately humans.

What Are The Symptoms Of Corona Virus?

In general, the main symptoms of coronavirus infections can be as follows. It will depend on the type of coronavirus and the severity of the infection:

  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Difficult in breathing
  • Headache
  • Runny nose

The clinical spectrum of coronavirus varies from Pneumonia to gastrointestinal symptoms, especially diarrhea.

In the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been found that around 80% of infected people have mild symptoms and mostly diabetes patients.

How To Prevent From Corona Virus?

To date, no specific vaccine or treatment is available to combat coronavirus infection. Maintaining basic hygiene is the most effective way to get rid of this deadly virus. It is advisable to wash your hands frequently and avoid contact with people who are already infected, especially protecting your eyes, nose, and mouth. People infected are advised to wear face masks and to wear handkerchiefs to cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Preventive measures should be followed especially by those with diabetes, kidney failure, chronic lung disease, or immunosuppression. As they are at increased risk of severe disease in case of coronavirus infection.

Is There Any Treatment For Corona Virus?

There is no such treatment preventing from coronavirus. Like other viral infections, coronavirus is treated only symptomatically: rest, heavy drinking, taking painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs.

How India Will Challenge The Outbreak Of Corona Virus?

Indian Health Ministry announced an emergency call to all the country borders. All the international airports are highly secured and screening tests are conducted. Till now, the 80 cases are identified in five states. Moreover, Indians are ready to challenge this viral issue. Most of the Indians who follow traditional lifestyles believe that they have enough immunity to face coronavirus.
