Getting married is one of the most exciting things that you will ever do. Ideally speaking it is something that you will only ever do once, so, it goes without saying that you will want the day to be perfect – memorable in every way for all the right reasons. The nice thing about weddings is that there is no right or wrong way to do them. Each person’s special day is unique to them and designed by them to tick all their relevant boxes. But regardless of that, there are still some important people that will need to be involved in almost every wedding. With that in mind, here are some of the key protagonists that you will need to acquaint yourself with as you start to plan your big day.
Flowers
This is such an important element of the whole day. It is about the bouquet that you will carry down the aisle. It is about the decorations in the church and it is the flowers at the reception as well. One of the key things with flowers is finding a good florist close to the venue. So many people make the mistake of arranging something with their local florist, but then they pick a venue that is on the other side of town or somewhere rural. This means the flowers need to be transported over large distances and it is often to their detriment. Rather run a Google search to see what is close to the venue. A phrase like ‘wedding florist Blue Mountains’ should do the trick.
Dress Maker
This is an interesting one as a wedding dress can be very expensive. You obviously want to look good on the day, but you also need to be aware that you might only wear the dress once. So, spend accordingly. Blowing a huge percentage of your budget on an item that will only get worn once is not always the best solution. Rather find a good dressmaker who can do it for you at a good price – you don’t need a designer label.
Photographer
If you want to preserve the moment you are going to need a good photographer. Get recommendations from friends who have been married recently and see what they say. You want somebody who can capture the wedding the way you want it to capture. Give them a brief and let them know what you are looking for. And make sure that you have viewed their portfolio before the big day arrives.
Baker
Your wedding cake is always going to be an important feature of the day. Your options are many from a traditional fruitcake with Marzipan to chocolate cakes or even cupcakes. Whatever you want you just need to make sure that you engage a baker who can deliver a product that tastes good and looks good at the same time.
Caterer
The wedding food is one of the most crucial elements in making and breaking the day. The key here is to make sure that you have tasted the food ahead of the day. A test-run of the menu. It is always a tricky balance trying to find something that fits a budget, which tastes good and which caters to the likes of the guests. There are plenty of venues that come with their own chef, but don’t be afraid to hire your own people if you think they are the better option.
