Traces of air pollution discovered in unborn babies' brains and lungs - Check out the entire story here

These Particles that mothers breathe will get into their growing babies can have long-term consequences.

Toxic air pollution particles have been found in the lungs, livers, and brains of unborn children before they breathe their first breath.

Because the foetal stage is the most vulnerable, experts described their groundbreaking discovery as very worrying.

Thousands of black carbon particles were found in each cubic millimetre of tissue.

During the pregnancy, these toxic particles will be breathed by the mother and will be passed to the foetus via the placenta and circulation

It was already widely understood that there was a clear correlation between polluted air and an increase in miscarriages, premature births, low birth weights, and brain development issues.

However, the new study provides clear evidence of how such harmful effects might occur.
